The rich scent of coffee assaulted Henrietta in the most pleasant way when she stepped into Espresso Yourself. Breathing deep and in dire need of a caffeine fix, she headed straight for the counter but was stopped when someone called her name. Turning around, she was surprised to see Olivia and Scott.

The married couple occupied a small table near a window and Scott had his computer open and an iPad set up as well. Olivia, on the other side of the table, had her phone out and several books scattered in front of her near a notepad where many notes were scribbled.

“You two look like you’re ready to take over the world.”

“That we are,” Olivia said with a grin.

Henrietta noticed her hand absentmindedly slip to her abdomen as a soft smile tugged at the corners of her lips. She was going to make a great mother and Henrietta knew that already.

“What is all this, Scott?” Henrietta asked, gesturing to the computer and iPad setup.

“Well, since our office is now a crime scene,” he made a face, “We have no other alternative but to work where we can. Dad’s out working the streets—or whatever he likes to call it—and I’m holed up here.”

“Excuse me, but this is no hole.” Gina came up to their table, hands on her hips and a mock frown on her face.

“Oh, Gina, you know I don’t mean that,” Scott said with a nervous laugh.

“You better not.”

“It’s just…like trying to fit an ocean into a water cooler.” He gestured to the computer and iPad.

“Oh, please,” Olivia said with a light laugh, “you much overestimate your needs, dear.”

They all shared in a laugh as Scott feigned insult.

“I’m sure it is difficult. I mean, you had three computers going at one time I think?” Henrietta said.

“Something like that.” He frowned down at his laptop and tapped a few keys.

“You here for coffee?” Gina asked Henrietta.

“You bet. The more caffeinated the better.”

“One triple shot latte coming up,” she said with a grin and left to go make Henrietta’s coffee.

“I have a quick question, Scott,” Henrietta said, waiting until the man looked up.

“Shoot.”

“Did Colleen Kennedy mention a man in her life?”

“Like, aside from her husband?”

She nodded.

“No. I mean, we had only just started to work the case. She’d given us minimal information and the stakeout was our first real work on the case aside from a few preliminary things.”

“Did she happen to mention that Noah wasn’t living in their house?”

“He—wait, he wasn’t?”

“Yes. I learned that today from some of her friends.” Though friends might be a loose term if they were willing to share her business so freely.

“I—no, we had no idea. I mean, from what she said in her email to us it was very straightforward. She feared he was cheating on her and she wanted to get evidence of that or…or something. Dad was going to follow up with her on what kind of information she needed, exactly.”

“Interesting.”

“I mean, if he wasn’t even living there it would be stupid for us to stakeout her house.
